45UP: A fun potting game with a difference.
Unlike the traditional 14/1 competitions normally seen at a variety of pool events held up and down the country, where one simply pots balls until you miss, Rileys' modernised version is played on a straightforward knockout basis, where following an 'open draw' players will do battle against each other until one player has potted 45 balls.
Both players ‘lag’ for the break, and the winner gets one free shot to smash the pack up. The player then continues to pot as many balls as they can without missing. When a player does miss, the turn to play then moves to the opponent who does likewise.
Every time the last ball is potted and none are left on the table, the player will again get one free shot to smash the pack before continuing in their quest to reach 45 balls potted.
If any player manages to pot all 45 balls without missing, his opponent will be given the chance to do likewise.
But be careful though!
Any foul, means not only will you lose your turn but you'll also lose five points off your score.
The first person to score 45 balls goes through to the next round. It's as easy as that.
45UP will run for four weeks. Each weeks winner and runner up will be invited back to participate at the unit final.
Each week the winner will receive 50% of the money taken in, and for the final, the balance of all monies taken over the four weeks will be paid out, with added prize money put in by the unit themselves to the unit winners.
45UP: Great fun, easy to play and everybody has a chance. So why not give it go?
